Latin PerformersPasadena, CA: “Desperate Housewives” star and ALMA Awards host/producer Eva Longoria took center stage Friday (June 1, 2007) to help celebrate the outstanding achievements of Latinos in the American motion picture, television and music industries. Longoria, along with twenty other performers and presenters, arrived at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium red carpet in Chevrolet Yukons and Suburbans.
Among those attending Friday’s taping: Andy Garcia (“Ocean’s Thirteen”), Terrence Howard (Oscar nominee for “Hustle & Flow”), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Oscar nominated director for “Babel”), Mario Lopez (“Dancing with the Stars”), Roselyn Sanchez (“Rush Hour 3”), Eva La Rue (“CSI: Miami”), Edward James Olmos (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Ana Ortiz (“Ugly Betty.”)
The ALMA Awards was created in 1995 by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) to promote the advancement of Latino artists in the mainstream entertainment industry.
As part its title sponsorship, Chevy hosts important Safe Kids Worldwide car seat check-ups, in partnership with NCLR’s Para Los Ninos chapter. The Safe Kids coalition is designed to educate families across the country about keeping children safe in and around vehicles
Many of the ALMA Awards’ stars also attended the VIP post party in Los Angeles in a loft that was once one of L. A.’s first automobile showrooms.
