July 2008 East Hampton: SVEDKA and actress Lauren Conrad hosted a party at the East Hampton ‘hot spot’ Lily Pond, uniting those of all political views.Guests spun the SVEDKA wheel and picked a party platform based on slogans from SVEDKA’s “Join the Party” ad campaign including: “Worship the Celebrity of You Choice”, “Make Handbags Tax Deductible” and “Support Socialized Plastic Surgery”.

Lorraine Bracco, Grant & Tamia Hill **July 2008, Sag Harbor, New York: Grammy award-winning, multi-platinum singer and chart topping songwriter, NE-YO was joined by singer-songwriter Solange at VH1’s Summer of Soul Concert. The concert was a benefit for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, and was held at EMM Group’s THE Estate, Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum’s home in the Hampton’s.
The goal of the night was to raise $200,000, and that goal was met.
The sexy bash got extra celebrity star-power from Aretha Franklin, as well as proud parents Tina and Matthew Knowles, and actress Lorraine Bracco, all on hand to lend their support for VH1’s Save the Music Foundation.
White-hot headliner NE-YO revealed how music literally saved his life during a difficult time in his life. He also gave a taste of what’s keeping him busy these days, including a new album due out on September 16, 2008. NE-YO is also penning tunes for bold-print names as diverse as John Legend, Ciara, Leona Lewis and Usher.
Solange, big sister of Beyonce, acknowledged that music in her school had helped keep her out of trouble. However, music almost led Aretha Franklin down a different path, as the first instrument she picked up in school was…the tuba!
Since its inception in 1997, VH1’s Save the Music Foundation has successfully restored and sustained instrumental music programs in 1,500 public schools in more than 100 cities across the country, including Memphis, Houston, Chicago, New York, Denver, Baltimore and Milwaukee. To date, the Save the Music Foundation has provided more than $40 million in new musical instruments.Celebrities involved in the Save the Music Foundation include Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Sting, Billy Joel, Kiefer Sutherland, John Legend, Rob Thomas, Alicia Keys, Jewel and many more have donated their time and efforts to the organization in attempts to raise awareness about the importance of music in a child's education.
