Sidney Lumet Honored for Lifetime Achievement!
At the sixth annual “Made in NY” Awards, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Mayor’s Office of Media Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver honored six individuals and organizations which have made significant contributions to New York City’s entertainment and new media industries.
The 2011 “Made in NY” Awards recipients are: actor and Academy Award winning screenwriter Matt Damon, comedian and actor John Leguizamo, location based mobile service Foursquare (receiving the first Award for social media), Co-Founder and CEO of Movie Pass Stacy Spikes, award winning production company Smuggler, independent feature film producer and Chairman of NBC Universal Entertainment and Digital Networks Lauren Zalaznick, and the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award to the late Sidney Lumet, which was accepted by the director’s daughter, Jenny Lumet.
The Awards ceremony at Gracie Mansion also included a special pre-Tony Performance by the Broadway Show Memphis - last year’s Tony Award winner for Best Musical.
